peter kadergard has been active in the helsingborg (sweden) electronic music scene since the early 1990 s. he was involved in various collaborations during the 90 s and appeared on a few cassette releases under the names grodans fodelsedag, marchentraum and mannix system. peter released his first rittowski record on the borft sub label djuring phonogram in 2004. apart from this electro project peter is a member of the bands goz mongo alliance and inyurmania, who has made a few releases on the ufo mongo, pripuzzi and skiboy record labels. this is new electro!

it is with a huge amount of pride and happiness that i get to welcome legendary producer and all round good egg liquid to the label. if liquid needs an introduction, i have to wonder what you are doing here? seriously though, he has brought an absolutely amazing ep of four brilliant tracks to the label. the truth is classic liquid piano anthem style, like a modern version of “sweet harmony”. kex and phormocide lean into old skool from various eras, and dope sick rounds the ep off with a futuristic retro amen workout, easily one of my favorite tunes since kniteforce restarted as a vinyl label. this ep is the bizniz basically. do not miss!

seth troxler continues to showcase the work of chicago great k’alexi shelby: after an ep on his other label tuskegee music and a remix for sean miller on this imprint, shelby now steps up to play it say it with a trio of excellent club cuts. k’alexi shelby is one of the windy city’s most venerated heroes. he’s put out six albums and almost 60 eps since the late eighties, all of which have helped evolve and establish the chicago house sound around the world. next to remixing acts like the pet shop boys and derrick may, he runs his own k klassik and 321 labels and remains as vital as ever. the perfectly titled ‘groove with us’ opens up with a cut and paste style, funky disco loops and plenty of filters all bringing the loose house funk. it’s a playful and timeless tune that is designed to blow up the ‘floor and most certainly will thanks to its unbridled energy. the dynamic and driving ‘so chicago’ then slips into a slick house groove, with great percussion, more big string samples lighting up the track and a knotted bassline that keeps you on your toes. suspenseful and explosive, it’s filled with authentic party vibes and a real sense of fun that will ignite any set. last but not least is the excellent ‘black sunday’, which takes uplifting preacher vocals from a church sermon and backs it with gospel singing, an old school baseline and raw energy that will get hands in the air. it’s a definitive piece of authentic house music with real heart and soul. this is an expressive ep of house tracks that embody the instinctive and emotive spirit of the genre to perfection.

chicago house pioneer dj sneak and russian export tripmastaz have proven themselves to be a formidable pairing since their first ep landed on sneak’s imprint, i’m a house gangster, in 2014. in july, they add to their joint discography with a three-tracker dispatch on cassy’s burgeoning label, kwench records. the label’s sixth release, cassy takes a step back and gives this collaborative duo yet another outlet to showcase their dancefloor fodder, which follows releases on kaluki music, mr. nice guy, reptile dysfunction, ovum recordings and, of course, i’m a house gangster. extraterrestrial intelligence reminds fans of not just their deftness in producing tough house cuts, but also their prowess at manipulating the roland tb-303 to deal a solid smacking of acid. ‘ufo’ reaches out to roughen up the humanoids of this planet with the 303’s distinctive squelch and those clattering drum machine rhythms – a track that’s guaranteed to get you twisted. gruff vocals on ‘click thang’ break through as a tough bassline ensures your participation on the floor, and ‘last daze of dizko’ maintains momentum with a thumping bassline that any peak-time burner should possess.

“territory iii” should have been the next release on tÉnÈbre’s self-titled artist label. however, as soon as the promo landed, the cassette library went on a shameless beg, borrow or steal mission and we are now proud to present wncl032 – a mind-blowing 4 track ep that successfully blends bass, breaks and techno, peppered with tastefully positioned ambient twists in just the right measure.

rod modell returns as deepchord for his first solo release on astral industries since inaugurating the label with his sought-after ‘lanterns’ ep. consisting of two stunning long-form pieces split on one side each, immersions¿ captures the emotive, halcyon sound that rod has long become synonymous with. opening with glistening ambient textures, ‘immersion i’ grows into an 18-minute piece of deep rolling dub techno. on the other side ‘immersion ii’ paints pristine soundscapes of soft, lapping waves, underpinned by submerged pulsations that rise to the surface to continue its deep space explorations. two highly refined and inspiring tracks that sit on the apogee of this sound.

the label’s latest offering comes from hamilton himself, who teams up with panick panick! label owner noha, offering a collaborative ep that is a fitting snapshot into the work of both individuals. the nohamilton ep gets underway with ‘lip service’, a rough-and-ready track with firm emphasis on a grinding, hypnotic loop that easily surpasses your average dj tool. highly finessed and progressing steadily, it’s the perfect example of how to do less with more. looking towards more sun-kissed planes, the duo deliver the ep s a2 track, a more heads- down cut that’s loaded with good-time grooves from the get go. sure to work a charm whenever it’s unleashed, ‘bored of life’ serves up an intriguing insight into both producers’ boundless studio output. romanian duo sit culminate matters with their ‘lip service’ rework. consisting of cristi cons and vlad caia, the pair have been excelling consistently, with both their resident advisor mix and latest release on the iconic sushitech label proving a potent reminder of this. taking the listener down the rabbit hole once more, they inject archie hamilton & noha s original with an eerie sheen, also adding an off-kilter baseline that’s hard not to get lost in. a suitably groove-led but unconventional interpretation, it closes off the ep with the sort of distinction we’ve come to expect from moscow.

the next release on leading french label zone is a very special one indeed from long time friend of the label and pioneering electro figure kittin, the artist formerly known as miss kittin. her standout original comes with an equally impressive remix from truncate. a long time stalwart of the electroclash scene who has put out many seminal singles, kittin has famously collaborated with the hacker and felix da housecat and mixed up new wave and techno in arresting new ways for decades. her albums have always been hailed as hugely accomplished and the prolific and innovative frenchwoman has worked with numerous top labels. now back once more in 2018 with her first solo single in some time, she is in fine form. her offering here, ‘eacid’, is a timeless piece of deep techno with brain melting bass and twinkling yet menacing keys. her own vocals are twisted and chopped up into wordless forms that add layers of intrigue and the whole thing is brilliantly broody. a breakdown at the mid point allows you to catch your breath as her voice refracts round the airwaves, then the icy hi hats and rumbling drums and bass land again with subtly uplifting, light emitting chords rising in the background. all in all, this is one of kittin’s most special and evocative tracks of recent times. remixing is truncate, the deep techno artist who runs a label of the same name and has released his killer wares on 50weapons. his version is more wild and flailing, with the keys becoming more manic, the drums darting about all over the place and the voice becoming more paranoid and trippy.

vive la musique brings you an official reissue and rework of the unique and highly sought after zouk track tabala mouv . the song is is the standout composition from the ultra-rare tabala series, released on vinyl in the mid 80s. after many months of searching, label head aroop roy managed to track down songwriter and producer, maurice agad, to the caribbean island of martinique. the 12inch includes the original track and two brand new versions, making a special package that many are touting as one of the soundtracks of the summer. in the original, detroit-esque keys and a balearic beat captivate you from the opening bars and uplifting vocals and a euphoric horn section combine to transport you to an idyllic paradise. aroop roy steps up the tempo and flips the groove for a trademark rework that will have universal appeal to house, disco and tropical music fans. the release is made complete with a subtle extended edit from truccy. the package is presented with beautiful full cover artwork, limited to the first pressing, which is likely to go very quickly.

following a standout appearance on dvs1’s mistress label with his “just pain” track, the man from minneapolis, doubt, returns to don’t be afraid for the first time since 2014’s “poor dog” ep. in the interim he has continued to record on disposable commodities under the doubt moniker, whilst also exploring experimental and ambient sound under the name time heals nothing.
for his most inclusive outing to date, doubt mines the outer limits of minimal house music whilst still maintaining the vibe of alienation and melancholy that characterises his work. the mood of “april” is euphoric and carefree but dig deeper and the fragile beauty also suggests an impending and ominous apocalypse. “what is happening” and “samusex” counterbalance the a-side’s brief suggestion of joy with a mood closer to doubt’s previous work. the title track meanwhile recalls the work of labels like ifach and trelik with a swinging, stripped down dub sound.

im lauf der letzten vier jahre hat sich hayden payne alias phase fatale einen ruf als erneuerer von techno erarbeitet – sowohl hinsichtlich des breiten spektrums dystopischer electronics in seinen dj-sets, als auch wegen seines tiefen wissens von synthese und sounddesign in seinen produktionen. nach releases auf labels wie jealous god debu&#776,,,,,,,,tierte payne 2017 mit der ep anubis auf unterton. seitdem u&#776,,,,,,,,bernahm der new yorker club residencies in seiner wahlheimat berlin (berghain) und seinem – quasi – zweitwohnsitz tiflis (khidi), vero&#776,,,,,,,,ffentlichte sein debu&#776,,,,,,,,talbum redeemer auf hospital productions und startete außerdem sein eigenes label bite mit einer kollaborativen ep seiner selbst mit silent servant. seine erste o-ton, reverse fall, atmet einen frischen, reinen geist von techno – weder nostalgisch noch futuristisch, eher anarchisch und beila&#776,,,,,,,,ufig visiona&#776,,,,,,,,r. phase fatale erweitert mit dieser 12- die klangliche variation und musikalische narrative seines bisherigen schaffens als producer ebenso wie er die bandbreite seiner dj und live-sets spiegelt. gleichzeitig verschiebt er die genreparameter von techno vorwa&#776,,,,,,,,rts: ihm geht es musikalisch weniger um ‚ha&#776,,,,,,,,rter‘, sondern um dichtere atmospha&#776,,,,,,,,ren und basslastige grooves einerseits, um einen bissigen, markanten und scharfkantigen sound andererseits. auf reverse fall gibt es von film(musik) – namentlich carpenter und argento – informierte stellen: markant-melodio&#776,,,,,,,,se, bedrohliche synth-arpeggios, staccato-hi-hats, du&#776,,,,,,,,stere sechzehntelsequenzen, knackige snares und schnalzende peitschenschla&#776,,,,,,,,ge, noisige drones und dro&#776,,,,,,,,hnende pads. zwei stu&#776,,,,,,,,cke wie gemacht fu&#776,,,,,,,,r halsbrecherische hochgeschwindigkeitsfahrten auf der na&#776,,,,,,,,chtlichen u&#776,,,,,,,,berholspur („reverse fall“, „blackbox“), zwei abgebremste stu&#776,,,,,,,,cke fu&#776,,,,,,,,r die horrorszenarien danach („incision“, „empty whip“). musik, karosserie, ko&#776,,,,,,,,rper und kopf verma&#776,,,,,,,,hlend – hier inspiriert von j.g. ballards verkehrstodfetisch crash, dort a&#776,,,,,,,,sthetisch im geiste dirk skrebers um stahlpfeiler gewickelt. eine abfahrt u&#776,,,,,,,,ber das gesamte frequenzspektrum, mit frontalcrash in einer schroffen klangwand.

la based independent experimental techno label halocyan is back with part 2 of the third man s incredible procession e.p. ‘parallax opens up proceedings drawing you in with its phased paranoid techno soundscapes. on the flip side the deep is exactly that, an immersive layering of synth textures and detuned organs. to close out the e.p. nightflight takes you on a nocturnal tip combing swelling pads, dreamy arps and melancholic detroit flavoured synth lines to great effect. 180g cyan blue 12- vinyl with laser-etched tracklist in double sleeves and a deluxe pvc wallet with flap. the outer sleeve is embossed with die cut over-sized centres, 2 spot uv stickers and a cyan metallic foil stamp.

fur coat join joseph capriatis redimension label with an ep of melodic, dancefloor power. the duo explore steely techno in five warehouse-ready tracks which unfold over extended run times. the eerie synth line, wall-shaking kick drums and vocal sample of repeat set the tone. mercury retrograd continues with a heavy, eyes-down pulse before cygnus soars into an epic crescendo. messenger of god provide tough dancefloor weapons to complete a slick ep that shows fur coat to be masters of their sound.

echocord sub-label echo echo continues this july with orbite’s ‘interstellar’ ep, a threetracker from the berlin- based producer. orbite is a brand new project founded in berlin, germany with a nod towards the raw, dubby sounds often heard across the clubs in the city, and where better to inaugurate things than the recently launched sub-label of copenhagen’s echocord, one of the leading imprints in the realms of dub techno, home to pioneering acts like rod modell/deepchord, pole and fluxion who have paved the way for orbite’s own twist on the genre. the ethereal pad textures of ‘skylar’ lead on the package, deftly evolving alongside bubbling synth tones, swelling chords and shuffled percussion to create a create dynamically unfolding six and a half minute cut. ‘moment’ follows, edging things further into dubbed-out territories with heavily delayed dub echoes and mesmeric spoken word poetry intertwining to create a, hypnotic beatless soundscape. ‘organi’ closes the record with emotive, billowing pads, warm bell like tones and vocal murmurs running alongside swinging shakers and stripped-back micro-house percussion.

echocord’s colour sub-label returns early june with a four- track ep from eindhoven’s albert van abbe in the shape of ‘klangbilder’. dutch techno artist albert van abbe has nearly two decades of experience under his belt in various forms of musical and visual expression, releasing on his own vanabbe imprint, figure jams, semantica and no comment, as well as playing live and djing at hot spots across the globe such as berghain, tresor, dgtl and awakenings festival. ‘klangbilder 1’ leads with a robust rhythmic drive, employing bumpy toms, shuffled hats and lumpy kicks at its core as vacillating synths, tension building drones and menacing pizzicato strings develop throughout. ‘klangbilder 2’ takes things deeper next, retaining the dusty drums sound of the previous cut whilst stirring in airy ethereal pads and choppy, resonant stab sequences. ‘klangbilder 3’ kicks off the b-side with modulating synth whirrs, emotive organ tones and a muted drum tones throughout before ‘klangbilder 4’ closes the package, taking things beatless and cinematic via emotive synth leads, droning subs and expansive echoes.

das album von 1978 der roots ikone wurde neu aufgelegt! - “africa stand alone” erschien auf dem nur kurze zeit exsistiernde label april records (new jersey, usa). das vokaltrio culture, bestehend aus joseph hil (lead vocals), albert walker und kenneth dayes, hatte sich im harry j recording studio mit toningenieur sylvan morris, dem produzententeam seymour cummings & jaime hatcher sowie den musikern der high lites sons of jah band eingefunden und den kurzweiligen longplayer eingespielt. ein tip für alle reggae vinylsammler und empfehlung für alle fans von culture!
